The Golden Gaze
2024-2025
The Golden Gaze visualizes how the sense of wonder we are born with can inspire a new way of looking at the living world.
Inspired by the art of still lifes, I photographed and filmed “weeds” we typically pass by, outdoors in the golden morning light. The golden morning light as a spotlight, wherein nature no longer serves as a backdrop to our existence. The living still lifes are more than just studies of plants; they are monuments of mindfulness, tranquillity, and wonder. The fruit of a small, personal act of resistance to the contemporary fixation on growth, functionality, and the individual.
As an ode to simplicity, sparking subtle encounters between the viewer and the more-than-human world.
